Sundays at Christ Presbyterian

Sunday School

Sunday School starts at 9:30 AM. We begin by learning a new hymn together. Then adults and children go to their separate classes.

The children’s classes focus on Bible stories, Scripture memory and Catechism. Catechism is a method the church has used for centuries to give children an outline of the Bible and theology. This approach uses a series of questions and answers that are memorized.

The adult classes focus on a variety of topics with an emphasis on discussion.

* There is no Sunday School on the first Sunday of the month.

First Sunday Feast

On the first Sunday of each month we gather for lunch following the worship service.  This is a time for us to share a meal so we can know and love one another better.

Sunday Evening Services

We have several Sunday evening gatherings throughout the year.  These are times for worship through hymns and Scripture readings.

What to Expect on Sundays

Dress / Attire

There is a wide range of attire on Sunday mornings, from coats, ties and dresses to very casual.

Children

We are glad to have children of all ages with us during the service.  We recognize that this does not work for every family or every Sunday.  We offer a nursery during the service for children from newborn through 3 years of age. There is a Mother’s Room available as well.

Music

Congregational singing is one of the primary means of God’s people expressing their praise.  As such, we see the congregation as the primary instrument and work to have all other instrumentation aid the singing of the people.  We often sing portions of our songs without any accompaniment.

We find that hymns, both historic and contemporary, provide music and lyrics that aid us in this endeavor.

Elements of Worship

Our worship is built around a fourfold pattern… Gathering, Hearing, Communing, Sending:

PRAISE

God calls his people into his presence and we come to offer worship and praise to Him because of the person and work of Christ for our redemption as we are enabled by the Holy Spirit.

CONFESSION & PRAYER

As we rejoice in our heavenly Father, we inevitably become aware of our ongoing struggle with rebellion and brokenness.

  • We take time to be guided by God’s word into a clearer sense of our sin, confessing and forsaking our sin and being assured of our forgiveness and hope in Christ.
  • Restored to God, we come to Him praying for the advance of His grace in our lives, families, community, and world.

SCRIPTURE & COMMUNION

We are discipled by the preaching of God’s word, which guides us to understand our rebellion and brokenness; our redemption through the person and work of Jesus; and our growing in grace, as the work of Christ is applied to our lives by the Holy Spirit, day by day.

Each week we come to the Lord’s Table, offering our tithes and confessing our faith using the ancient form of confession, the Apostles’ Creed.

SENDING

Our closing hymn and benediction are God’s sending us out into the world to continue proclaiming the good news of Christ to ourselves and others, laboring for His glory.

Coffee & Conversation

We hope that you will help yourself to coffee or tea and a light snack before and/or after the service and take some time to let us get to know you.

Other Questions

What if I am not a Christian or not sure where I stand with regard to being a Christian?

We are glad that you are with us for our worship service and we invite you to participate to the degree that you are able.  Since the Lord’s Table / Communion is reserved for those who have confirmed their faith in this or some other church, if that does not describe you we ask that you not partake but pass the bread and wine on as they come down the row of seats.  We would love to speak with you as you consider what it means to follow Christ.

How will I know what to do when in the worship service?

The printed worship bulletin will provide most of what you need to know along with direction from those leading the service.

Stream the Service

Our worship service begins at 10:30 AM. If you are unable to join us in person, you can stream it on YouTube.
